VISAKHAPATNAM: To encourage talent among the youth, Sri Vijaya Tyagaraja Sangeetha Sabha will award three gold medals to outstanding and promising young artistes in the field of classical music.
‘A’ grade Mrudangam artiste of All India Radio, K. Satguru Charan from Vijayawada has been selected to receive the prestigious diamond jubilee (Sabha’s) gold medal sponsored by city senior advocate Durvasula Dakshina Murthy.
K. Kasturi Kamala Deepthi from the city will receive the Dr. Alhari Singari gold medal for her achievements in classical music - vocal and Veena, while violin artiste from Vizianagaram M. Neeladri Rao will receive Durvasula Bhagavanulu gold medal for proficiency in playing the violin.
Shawls and plaques will also be presented to the winners.
Cash awards and prizes will also be given away to the winners of the state-level competition in classical music - vocal, veena, mrudangam and violin for both juniors and seniors and the Ragam Tanam Pallavi at a special function to be held in Kalabharathi auditorium on December 26.
